Humanity

I am certain that if I had a chance to talk to each one of you reading this, you would have at least one story of people acting badly. I think we have all seen what can happen to desperate people who feel they have no other option but to harm others to get what they want or need. Why is it that human beings are capable of acting like animals from time to time? Where did they go wrong in their lives to turn into the raving lunatics that they have become? These are things that I think about every time I see another story on the news about someone doing something to someone else.
There are probably many reasons why people turn bad. I would guess that poverty could have something to do with it, I would also guess that mental issues could have a great deal to do with it, but the ones that scare me are the ones that do bad things because they actually enjoy it. These people are the ones that show no clue as to what their intentions are and before you know it, they are stealing or hurting someone.
I am willing to state right here and now that human beings are just as aggressive and evil as any of the most terrifying monsters that we dream about at night. Remember the “boogie man”? Well I think instead of being afraid of that fictional character, we should be more afraid of the nonfiction character we call the human being.
Not all is lost though my friends. Even though there are millions of bad people, there are billions of good ones who will be there for you and help you out. Just because there are evil people around, don’t let that harden you to think that all humanity is bad. I asked you in the beginning of this article if you knew of any bad people, and now I am asking you how many good people you know. I am pretty sure that you know more good people than bad and because of this; we can see that good wins over bad in most cases.
Something that seems to happen a lot to people is that they get frustrated with doing good things because they don’t feel as though they are making a mark. This is common but it is unfounded because even if you help one person, you may be affecting a whole family. One good deed can go a lot farther than one may believe. When you do something good for another person, that person appreciates it most of the time and because they remember what you did for them in a time of need, they may very well pass on that good will to someone else when they are in need.
I have a proposition for all of you. Try doing something nice for someone today. See how it makes you feel and know that because you did a good deed, you may have made a difference in many people’s lives. Even if your good deed goes unnoticed, don’t believe for a moment that it didn’t make an impact. Keep doing the good things and it will come back to you someday.
