Preparedness is not a Bad Word

I am a big fan of social media and I find myself watching a lot of videos about current events and other interesting things. One current event sticks in my mind though and that is the economic situation in the United States. As with most of you, things are tough for me right now too. I have had to tighten my budget and do my best to buy things out of necessity rather than for fun. I have been buying more food, ammunition, and other relevant things that I think will be important to me in the coming months and years.
I have noticed a huge trend that has been taking place lately and I must admit that I am pleasantly surprised. More and more people have begun to get into the “preparedness” mindset and I honestly can say that this makes perfect sense. In the past the word “preparedness” and “survival” was thought of as a relatively silly thing but as more and more people see what is happening in this country, they are starting to wake up and realize that they had better have something stored away for the hard times that MAY come. Now I know, some of you are saying that the hard times are already here and you would be correct. But I really do not believe that we have actually seen the “bad times” quite yet. We are on the cliff looking down at where we are going and to many, this is very scary.
Denying that we are in trouble is a big mistake. I know how easy it is to try and push the bad news into a corner and try to forget about it. I am a human, I have done this many times myself but the one fact about doing this is that even though you brushed the trouble into a corner, the trouble is still there waiting. It doesn’t just go away when you can’t see it. So denying the fact that this country is in deep trouble is the last thing we need to do. The best plan of attack is preparation and that includes everything from food and water to defensive weapons. Now I know that many people hate guns and the word alone worries them. Well, for those of you that hate guns or are afraid of them, think about this… You are at home with your children and some nut breaks in. He has a gun or a knife and thinks your daughter is pretty. Without a gun you have just given the intruder the power to rape and kill your daughter. With a gun, you can deny that slime the opportunity to harm your loved ones. Some of you will say the police can help you so you don’t need a gun. Well, I am a police officer and I can promise you that a criminal will kill you dead before I am able to arrive to save you. It’s not that I don’t want to save you because I do; it is just because I cannot get to you in time. It has been proven time and time again that we as police officers just do not have the ability to get there fast enough. Is it because we take our time? Of course not, we drive as fast as possible while being safe, we want to be there and take care of you but it is physically impossible to make it in time. This is why you need a gun. Don’t let anti-gun people tell you otherwise because they just do not know what they are talking about and they are following an agenda as all groups do.
The point of this is that since we know the economy is not going to get better any time soon, we need to prepare by being able to sustain ourselves in every way possible. Think about what you do now and the things you need to live each day. Write all of it down and ask yourself how it would be if you could no longer get those things. Then go and stock up on these things and pack them away. Look for sales and buy in bulk when you are able to do so. This is important and even if everything in the country turns out ok, you still saved money on important products and now you won’t have to waste gas going to get more.
Preparing now is just smart. The best part is that you can do it slowly and everything you buy is something you use already so no money will go to waste and more importantly, you will be ready if the bad things on the horizon decide to show themselves in the future.
Good luck!

Good Hub! I agree in preparing for these things for the days are evil! As important as preparing for these things I believe that we need to be prepared for eternity!
